When you live in the Northeast, you will learn how important insulation is for your home. Not only does insulation keep your house a comfortable temperature but it also helps limit excess energy usage which is more money out of your pocket. With a home that is already insulated, there are a few areas that you could add additional insulation for improved energy efficiency.
1. Attic Access Door:
Attic insulation is crucial for a house, but attic access doors are often overlooked. If not insulated, your attic door could let cold air into the rest of your home.
2. Cantilevers:
Cantilever floors give a home some great character but can lack insulation.
3. Walls & Ceilings near cold Spaces:
Ceiling and wall areas that are directly adjacent from cold areas such as attics, garages or crawl spaces may need some extra insulation. Especially consider doing so if you feel that these areas are a little cooler than the rest of the house.
4. Joist Spaces:
We find alot of older homes that don’t have any insulation between the first and second levels of their home. You can limit the amount of airflow and regulate temperatures in different sections of your house much easier with insulation in these sections.
